Campus "Safe Shuttle Vehicle" Guarding Students' Commute to and from School

2025-11-18
At a primary school in China, 5 light electric passenger tricycles form a "campus shuttle fleet", specially serving left-behind children from 3 adjacent administrative villages. These villages are 2-4 kilometers away from the school, and some sections of the road are rough. Due to parents working outside the area, they cannot pick up and drop off their children, so previously the children mostly walked or took agricultural vehicles to and from school, which posed safety risks.
The school, in conjunction with the village committee, selected 5 villagers with long driving experience and strong sense of responsibility as drivers. All vehicles have undergone safety modifications, with anti-collision guardrails, child safety seats and monitoring equipment added, and the body is marked with "special for student shuttle". The fleet implements a "fixed-point and fixed-time" shuttle model, gathering at designated locations in each village at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day. Each vehicle can carry a maximum of 4 students, and the driving speed does not exceed 20 kilometers per hour throughout the journey. Drivers are required to receive traffic safety training and background checks, and count the number of students and confirm with parents before each shuttle. This model has been in operation for 3 years without any safety accidents, solving the commuting problem for more than 80 left-behind children. "With a special shuttle service, we feel more at ease working outside!" A student's parent expressed gratitude via a video call.
