In a scenic area in Yunnan, China, 20 customized electric passenger tricycles are in operation as exclusive shuttle vehicles within the scenic area. Covering an area of 8 square kilometers, the scenic area has a long distance between core scenic spots, making walking time-consuming and tiring. These shuttle vehicles are custom-designed with a retro style, and their bodies are painted with patterns featuring the scenic area's characteristics. Each vehicle can carry 3 passengers and their luggage, and is equipped with professional tour guides who also serve as drivers. The scenic area has set up 8 shuttle stops, covering key locations such as the entrance, core scenic spots, restaurants and homestays, implementing a "hail and stop, pay by stop" model, with a one-stop fare of 10 yuan and an all-inclusive ticket of 30 yuan. To enhance the experience, the vehicles are also equipped with sunshades, USB charging ports and audio guide devices. Drivers can adjust the driving speed according to tourists' needs and stop at any time to explain the scenic spots. According to the scenic area's operation data, the electric shuttle vehicles transport more than 2,000 tourists per day, with a tourist satisfaction rate of 92%. Compared with traditional sightseeing vehicles, electric tricycles have lower energy consumption, with a daily electricity cost of only 15 yuan. They are also flexible in turning and can easily navigate through the narrow paths in the scenic area, being both environmentally friendly and convenient.
