China’s Export Boom of Two-wheeler and Three-wheeler Electric Vehicles Continues

Chinese electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler exports maintain explosive growth in the global market. In the first quarter of 2026, the export volume of electric two-wheelers reached 7.2 million units, a year-on-year increase of 68.2%. The export value of electric tricycles from major production bases rose 87.2% year-on-year, with orders scheduled for the second half of the year. Chinese low-speed electric vehicles are widely popular worldwide for their low cost, convenient operation and strong adaptability. They are suitable for urban narrow roads in Europe, daily commuting and cargo transportation in Southeast Asia, farm operations in North America, and livelihood travel in Africa. Priced reasonably in the domestic market, Chinese electric vehicles still have considerable premium space in European and American markets, maintaining strong global market competitiveness. Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative and cross-border e-commerce, the export scale of domestic two-wheeler and three-wheeler electric vehicles will continue to expand.
