EU New Standard EN 15194 Fully Enforced, Raising Global Export Compliance Threshold

2026-06-10
The transition period of the latest EU electric bicycle standard EN 15194 ended in June, with the new regulations fully enforced across Europe. The updated standard comprehensively upgrades technical and safety requirements for exported electric vehicles, covering battery overcharge protection, thermal runaway prevention, overall mechanical strength and braking performance. Meanwhile, stricter EMC electromagnetic compatibility tests are implemented for controllers and motors to eliminate electromagnetic interference risks. In addition, full lifecycle traceability is mandatory for complete vehicles and core components with exclusive coding, strictly prohibiting private modification and non-standard products. European countries including Italy, Austria and Latvia have strengthened market inspection and road right supervision, classifying high-speed electric motorcycles as standard motor vehicles. The new rules force domestic export enterprises to upgrade certification and product quality, further raising the industry’s overseas entry barriers.
