US Commerce Department Launches Supplementary AD/CVD Investigation on Low-speed Leisure Two-wheelers & Tricycles, New Ta

The US Department of Commerce issued an announcement on July 11 to launch a supplementary anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation into the existing low-speed passenger vehicle case. Two segmented product categories, scenic leisure electric tricycles and two-seater community leisure electric two-wheelers, are newly included with expanded covered HS codes. Investigation data shows China’s exports of leisure tricycles to the US exceeded USD 120 million in 2025, with purchases from North American villa communities and resorts doubling year after year.

Fearing potential high cash deposits, local US distributors diversify sourcing channels, with Mexico, the Middle East and Australia emerging as alternative growth markets. Manufacturers expand overseas warehouse layout and launch long-range leisure vehicles customized for high-temperature climates in Australia and the Middle East.
