Vietnam Releases Preview Data of Vietnam Cycle Expo, Leisure Electric Tricycles Become Top-selling Commuter Vehicles in

Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a pre-show market report for the August Ho Chi Minh New Energy Vehicle Exhibition on July 8. Demand for short-distance travel in urban and rural markets across Vietnam has surged, with sales of lightweight passenger leisure electric tricycles climbing 76% year-on-year. Local regulations cap the maximum speed of leisure two-wheelers at 25km/h with a maximum motor power of 250W, while sightseeing tricycles are allowed up to 45km/h, suitable for township passenger transport and light fruit & vegetable haulage.

Limited domestic lithium battery production capacity drives buyers to prioritize models with detachable lithium batteries. Versatile Chinese leisure tricycles supporting both passenger transport and light cargo delivery account for 62% of Vietnam’s imported leisure mobility vehicles. A large number of local distributors negotiate CKD semi-knockdown assembly cooperation to cut import tariffs.
