EU Pre‑warns 2027 Battery Regulation: Serviceable Battery Design Becomes Mandatory for Exports

EU industrial bodies issued export alerts in September. Starting Feb 2027, the EU Battery Regulation for light‑means‑of‑transport requires batteries of leisure electric 2‑wheelers and 3‑wheelers to be detachable and replaceable by professional technicians. Glued‑shut or welded‑locked battery packs will fail customs clearance. Exporters need to adjust vehicle and battery‑pack structures in new‑product development for pre‑compliance.
