New Lithium‑ion Battery Performance Standard Takes Effect on Sep 1, Raising Access Threshold for Leisure EV Batteries

On September 1, national standard GB/T 36972‑2026 for lithium‑ion batteries of electric bicycles came into force. Complementing the existing mandatory safety standard, it sets rigid requirements on cycle life and real‑world range. Batteries fitted on leisure 2‑wheelers and 3‑wheelers must comply. Solutions with exaggerated capacity or poor cycle performance will be phased out, pushing OEMs to optimize battery supply chain selection.
